Our base in Sweden is located in Henån on Orust, outside of Gothenburg. Henån is truly the sailing centre of the Swedish west coast, with unique, sheltered waters practically all the way to Norway. This gives the sailor the choice of sailing inshore and even if it this sometimes means shallow waters it also means avoiding hard sea. Nautical charts (paper and digital) are very exact and navigation marks frequent, which makes sailing easier.

On the way out from Henån you pass several islets, islands and other boats. The coast is well known for its many natural harbours, accessible thanks to the “Allemansrätt” (the right of public access to nature) and also due to the lack of tide.

The area provides plenty of overnight harbouring, but remember to arrive early during the high season, especially when sailing a larger yacht.

A famous attraction in the area is Marstrand with its spectacular fortress, that offers a magnificent view of the surrounding archipelago. Other well-known destinations in the area are Klädesholmen, Kärringön, Kornö and Smögen. We recommend visiting the very popular Smögen Bridge, 600 m long with a vast array of shops and restaurants. Because of its popularity we recommend pre-booking a spot at the Sea Lodge jetty.
